Who I am

I'm Rob Bateman, a sole trader trading as Rob Bateman Art ("I", "me"). I'm the data controller for the personal information described below.

What information I collect and why

  • Name, email, and what you tell me when you send an enquiry or commission request (including photos of your pet). Why: To reply to you, give a quote and take a commission or order. Lawful basis: Taking steps at your request before a contract (Art 6(1)(b)), or my legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Art 6(1)(f)).

  • Name, delivery and billing address, email, phone number (if given), order details. Why: To take payment, make and deliver your order, send confirmations and handle returns. Lawful basis: Contract (Art 6(1)(b)).

  • Payment details. Why: Payments are taken by a payment provider (Squarespace Payments or PayPal, once switched on). I never see or store your full card number. Lawful basis: Contract (Art 6(1)(b)).

  • Accounting records (invoices, orders, payments). Why: To keep accounts and meet tax obligations. Lawful basis: Legal obligation (Art 6(1)(c)).

  • Website usage data and cookies (pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location). Why: To keep the site working and understand how it's used. Lawful basis: Consent for non-essential cookies; legitimate interest for essential ones.

  • Messages and comments you send me on social media (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest). Why: To reply to you. Lawful basis: Legitimate interest (Art 6(1)(f)).

I don't collect information from children, and the site is not aimed at them. Enquiries are handled by me alone.

Photos of your pet

If you send photos for a commission, I use them only to make your artwork and to discuss it with you. I won't post your pet's photos or the finished artwork publicly unless you've agreed.

Who I share it with

Only those who need it to provide the service:

  • Squarespace (website, hosting and checkout), and the payment provider named above

  • Couriers and postal services (name, address and phone number for delivery)

  • Prodigi, which prints and sends my art prints (your name, delivery address and order details)

  • My accountant or HMRC, where required by law

I don't sell your information. Some of these providers are based outside the UK (for example in the USA). Where that happens, they must use approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, where it applies.

How long I keep it

  • Enquiries that don't lead to a sale: up to 12 months

  • Order and commission records: 6 years after the tax year, for tax and accounting

  • Cookies: see the cookie banner for each one's lifetime

Cookies

The site uses essential cookies to work, and optional analytics or marketing cookies only if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie banner settings, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

Your rights

You can ask me to: see the information I hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how I use it, or give you a copy to move elsewhere. Where I rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. Email robbatemanart@outlook.com and I'll reply within one month.
